GKA Mission Statement
The GKA aims to represent the interests of kite sport athletes, both recreational and professional, the kite sports industry and to provide information, safety standards and data to professionals, press and the interested public.
The GKA advocates that kiting as a sport can be done in all countries in harmony with nature.
The GKA also works to create positive relationships with all national kiting associations as with the various professional kite sports organizations.
The kite sport industry provides reliable information about market developments to its industry members and works on the development and implementation of equipment standards to support kitesurfing as a safe sport for everybody.
In detail, the GKA’s goals are:
- securing beach access for kite sport activities worldwide.
- making the sport even safer by implementing best practice guidelines and ISO standards for training, equipment and competitions.
- supporting young riders and more female athletes to enter the sport.
- supporting kite school and training facility infrastructure development.
- promotion of professional kite sports
- representing the interests of kite sports athletes and all matters concerning the world of kite sports towards World Sailing and other international associations.
- making kite sports, including the production of equipment, transport of products and international competitions more sustainable by setting up concepts for avoiding waste, reduced use of resources and innovative manufacturing methods.
- representing the interests of the kite sports industry towards governments, legislators, decision makers at the IOC, World Sailing and any Olympia related topic.
- collecting and composing sales statistics (available for members only).
