What is the Global Kitesports Association (GKA)?
The Global Kitesports Association (GKA) was founded in 2014 and represents the global lifestyle-watersport-industry, in particular the kite-sport industry. The GKA gives the kite-sport-industry one strong voice to achieve their common goals and to raise the awareness of the kite-sport in a positive manner.
What are the goals of the GKA?
The GKA’s main goals are:
- bringing together all kitesport brands in a trusted community,
- Ensuring that kite-sport can be practiced in all countries in harmony with nature. This includes the fight against the closing of beaches for kitesports.
- Giving the kite-sport industry one voice concerning the development of professional kite-sport competitions. The GKA Kite World Tour runs the successfully the disciplines Kite-Surf, Freestyle Big Air and Big Air Hydrofoi,
- collecting kitesport industry data to obtain accurate information about the development of the kitesport market,
- Making the kite-sport even safer through the development and implementation of official and international ISO standards.
- promotion and development of professional kitesports,
- supporting young people entering kitesports, to secure the future of kitesports as an established sport,
How is the GKA organised?
The GKA board consists of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a treasurer (all elected for two years) and the Secretary General Dr Jörgen Vogt. All key decisions are made by the Annual General Meeting.

Who can become a GKA member?
Kitesport brands and all entities related to the kitesurfing business. Members of the GKA do have the right to make the final decision about a membership application.

Can national kitesurfing associations apply for GKA membership?
National kitesurfing associations cannot become members of GKA but can establish partnerships and alliances to develop and promote kitesurfing in their home country. For further information please contact info@gkakiteworldtour.com
How much is the annual membership fee?
The membership fee is structured in different tiers, depending on the size and product portfolio of the brand. Newly-founded companies get a discount for up to six years after their establishment. For detailed information please contact the GKA at info@gkakiteworldtour.com

One of the goals of GKA is to develop, support and promote professional kitesports. That’s why GKA and GKA Wingfoil World Tour cooperate closely.
